PS Bowl-A-Thon 2010: Rose Bowl Presented by Vizio

Rose Bowl Presented by Vizio

The Where and When:
January 1st, 5:00 p.m. est, Rose Bowl, PASADENA, CA ESPN/ESPN3.

The Who:
Wisconsin Badgers (11-1, 7-1 Big Ten) vs Texas Christian University Horned Frogs (12-0, 8-0 MWC)

The Why:
Wisconsin took home a share of the Big Ten championship and finished highest in the BCS to gain a trip to the Rose Bowl. This is their seventh trip to the Rose Bowl.

TCU took home the Mountain West crown and is headed to their second BCS game in two years. This is their first trip to the Rose Bowl and 26th bowl game all time.

What Smartypants Accounting Guy Would Tell You:
Wisconsin is the beef express. The 19th ranked total offense is riding behind it's mammoth offensive line, running backs and the 12th ranked rushing offense to put up 43.3 ppg (4th). They haven't needed to pass all that often so they rank just 73rd. Defensively they are solid. The 21st ranked total offense gives up 20.5 ppg (29th). They are better defending the pass (25th) than the run (30th) but not bad at all.

TCU is just good. The 9th ranked total offense puts up 43.3 ppg good for 4th. They are the 7th ranked rush offense but can throw the ball at 53rd. Defensively they are just sick. The number one total, scoring and pass defense they give up just 11.4 ppg. What about the run? Oh yeah they're just the 3rd ranked rush defense. Filthy.

Wisconsin was 4-1 verse winning teams and TCU met six and defeated them all. Verse ranked opponents UW was 1-1 and TCU went 1-0. Both teams were 5-0 to close.

Pool Prognosticators Pattern:
Badgers are mean little things. But Frogs are gross. Red and white verse purple? Duh! Purple wins!

Vegas Edge
TCU is a 3 point favorite. As they fav, TCU is just 6-5 ATS. The Badgers are 2-0 ATS as the dog on the season. Down the stretch TCU went 4-1 ATS and the Badgers went 5-0.

The Sweatpants Verdict:
Wisconsin is a good team. But I don't think they were really tested like they will be in this game. TCU is a very good team and they are not going to let an opportunity like this pass them by. They are going to make a statement. TCU wins and covers.
