Quick Buck Thursday

QBT has returned!

Basically after a bout of shear laziness, QBT is back for your viewing enjoyment. As you will recall last season was, ah, not so good and QBT finished 16-33-1. Let's just say since then I now live in a one bedroom apartment.

But none-the-less, QBT will give it another go this season. So let's take a look at what we like this week:

The Early Games
Central Michigan @ Michigan State -22.5
Yes the Spartans shit the bed last week, but I think that was more of a function of the Irish getting it together than the Spartans' utterly sucking. Not to mention that Central is 1-2 and hasn't covered a single spread. I just think Central is down this year. I have little to no faith in the Spartans, but I have less faith in Central. Not to mention about 95% of the money in Vegas is on Michigan State right now.

LA Monroe +17 @ Iowa
NV Nole is going to kill me for this, but this line started out at -20 and moved three points already. I think LA Monroe is a decent ball club with a ton of speed. We all saw what happened when the Hawkeyes got Steele Jantzed two weeks ago. Plus Iowa is just a lost team right now. They didn't cover in their first two games and barely did last week. Iowa could be a team to keep an eye on all season. The only thing that worries me here is that only 54% of the dollars are on LA Monroe.

The Afternoon Lot
Ohio +4.5 @ Rutgers
Ohio is beating teams soundly. They have covered 2 of their three games and that one was a 31 pt spread. In the close games they've covered soundly. That said Rutgers too has covered in both it's contests. Looking at the numbers this may be a stay away game. But I'm just not sure about Rutgers yet. Yes, they stayed close with UNC, but who knows what's happening in Chapel Hill. I like Solich and his boys. Not to mention 76% of Vegas money does as well.

UAB @ East Carolina -12.5
I think you may see the Pirates show up a lot in this column this season. They have covered in both their losses against top 10 competition. That's pretty solid stuff. UAB on the other hand hasn't covered yet. This is pretty much my lock of the week. Bet it hard, heavy and often.

The Nightcaps
Louisiana-Lafayette @ Florida International -17
The Golden Panthers are a good ball team. They are not only 3-0 but have covered in each contest. The Ragin Cajuns are a good team as well covering in two of three games played, with their only loss coming to Okie State. If this game was in Lafayette, I may take the Cajuns. But on the road I think FIU gets it done. Again a little nervous that the majority of the money on this game is with the dog.

Rice @ Baylor -20.5
Baylor is hot. RGIII is on everyone's tongue. They covered in both their wins thus far, the first as a 4 point dog. Rice is 1-1 in record and ATS, and gave us 34 to the McCoy-less Longhorns. Baylor may score 50 at half. Vegas is all over this too as 100% of the money is on Baylor at this point. Get in now before the line gets higher.

And the NV Nole Lock of The Week:
Kansas State @ Miami -12.5
If you want to put a lock of the week, I really like Miami in this game. They just defeated Ohio State by 18 and I don't think KSU is near the program that Ohio State is. Book it and buy yourself a nice steak dinner with the W.
