In My Defense: B1G

Lets take a look back at Week 6 and grade my picks. Last week, I finished a perfect 5-0. Can I stay perfect in conference play?

Minnesota at Purdue.
My Pick: Purdue 17-7.
Actual Score: Purdue 45-17.
In My Defense: Minnesota is not good, now having lost two games by a combined score of 103-17. Purdue is the best of the worst, but can they win games they shouldn’t?

Illinois at Indiana
My Pick: Illinois 38-10
Actual Score: Illinois 41-20.
In My Defense: Illini still rolling. Indiana opens basketball season next Sunday.

Michigan at Northwestern
My Pick: Michigan 31-30.
Actual Score: Michigan 42-24.
In My Defense: Northwestern came out firing, but for the second straight week blew a double-digit lead. They have no defense. Michigan looked awful early, but rallied. If the Northwestern offense had stayed alive in the second half, we would have had the shootout I expected.

Ohio State at Nebraska
My Pick: Nebraska 17-10
Actual Score: Nebraska 34-27.
In My Defense: Thanks to a Braxton Miller injury, Nebraska gets its first win in the Big 10. I was shocked at how OSU moved the ball on the ground and this game was over until that injury. Give the Big Red credit for making the comeback. There is officially a coaching vacancy at Ohio State for 2012.

Iowa at Penn State
My Pick: PSU 21-17
Actual Score: PSU 13-3.
In My Defense: 21 points, please. These two teams are not good. Penn State’s defense is stout. Iowa’s is not and PSU still only scored 13 points. Iowa is going to be fighting for a bowl appearance. If the Lions could find a consistent offense…nevermind.

Perfection again. 5-0 in the Big 10.

Standings through Week 2.
Illinois 2-0 6-0
Penn State 2-0 5-1
Wisconsin 1-0 5-0
Purdue 1-0 3-2
Ohio State 0-2 3-3
Indiana 0-2 1-5

Michigan 2-0 6-0
Michigan St 1-0 4-1
Nebraska 1-1 5-1
Iowa 0-1 3-2
N’western 0-2 2-3
Minnesota 0-2 1-5
