Lazy Man's Michigan Preview: Michigan State

It's Sparty week for the Wolverines. And I couldn't be more excited.

(11) Michigan (6-0, 2-0) @ (23) Michigan State (4-1, 1-0) 12:00 ET ESPN/ESPN3

Yep, you're right, Michigan State is the third ranked scoring and rushing D in the country. Yep, they're the second ranked passing D. And yes, they are the top ranked total D in the country. And you know why? They've faced the 118th, 88th, 105th ranked offenses and a FCS team. When they did actually face a "decent" offense (ND) they gave up 31 and lost. Denard and company are 21st in scoring, 7th in rushing and 26th overall.

Is this going to be a test for the offense? No doubt. But I think Borges has a few tricks up his sleeve that he's saved just for this game. I don't think he holds anything back for OSU, given how awful they look. If Denard can step into his throws and get a few "Oh No" passes, Michigan will be good. There shouldn't be any reason why the offense doesn't put up 35 in the game.

After the half last week, we saw the defense come to life. I'm not sure it was the adjustments that did it, but more that the defensive line just started to dominate. The line needs to come out with that fire from the start this week because, oh look, MSU's o-line is in tatters. Couple the line dominance with a couple of well timed blitzes and Sparty won't be going anywhere

Special Teams
Cover a damn punt and let's not have to kick too many fields goals and things will be fine.

The Prediction
Little Brother is a 2.5 point favorite. If it wasn't a cardinal rule of mine to not bet on Michigan, I'd be all over this. Michigan takes back the Paul Bunyan Trophy and begins to right the wrongs of the last three years. Michigan 35-13.
