Lazy Man's Michigan Preview: Purdue

YAWN!!! STRETCH!!!

Ah they Bye Week is behind us and I feel rested. Which is good because after the hangover I had on Sunday after that damn MSU game, I needed the week off.

But I'm not here to bring up old shit. I'm here to look to ahead and to the Boilermakers.

Purdue (4-3, 2-1) @ (18) Michigan (6-1, 2-1) 12:00 ET ESPN2/ESPN3

This is a good bounce back game for the boys in blue. Purdue, despite having very Purdue things happen to them have started to play decent ball. After upsetting Illinois last week, they face their second of three ranked teams in a row. So let's look at the breakdown.

Offense
Borges needs to get back on track in this game. Fire up the running game again and give Denard some easy throws early to get into a rhythm. Purdue isn't awful against the run at 55th and their not too bad against the pass either. Getting Fitz or Smith involved early will take pressure off Denard later in the game.

Defense
Bottom line is they need to tackle better. The tackling last week was bad. Aside from that, the defense did it's job in East Lansing and there nothing that says they won't dominate this game. Purdue is pretty balance offensively but are mediocre at best. If the defensive line can get a good push up front and the linebackers can play downhill a bit things will go well for Michigan.

Special Teams
Just don't let any big returns happen. This probably worries me the most. I don't know why I just have a bad feeling. The coverage has been waiting to burst now for 7 weeks. Let's hope the week off gave them a chance to shore coverage up a bit.

The Pick
Nothing scares me about this game. It's at home. It's Purdue. It's after a bye week. I think Michigan has another fast start and the defense holds down the Boilers. Michigan 40-13.
