Week 5 Divination
Well I can say this, if I was on some pre-game show were the spread didn't matter, I'd be doing alright. But, here at Productive Sweatpants, if you ain't coverin', you ain't winin'. So let's turn this thing around shall we.

Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-0, 0-0 B1G) @ Iowa Hawkeyes (2-2, 0-0 B1G)
Saturday, 9/29 12:00 ET ESPN2
Line: Iowa - 6.5

Look man, I really don't know why the Hawkeyes are favored in any game going forward. I guess you can say they've beaten AIRBHG by being able to field an able-bodied running back, but man they're finding fantastic ways to lose ball games. They are 0-4 ATS and Goldy and Kill's boys are 4-0. Add in that Floyd has spent the last two years north of Iowa City and I'm taking Minnesota plus the points.

Minnesota not only covers but stays undefeated, 24 - 20.

Ohio Bobcats (4-0, 0-0 MAC) @ UMass Minutemen (0-4, 0-1 MAC)
Saturday, 9/29 3:30 ET ESPN3
Line: Ohio -24

UMass is back baby! You're welcome for suggesting you avoid them last week. It was the only smart thing I said in that debacle. Ohio is a solid team. They are 3-1 ATS and rank 31st in rushing offense. Take a guess who is 116th in rush defense. Yeah. Last week was a reflection on Miami OH (who is now 0-4 ATS. You may want to look at Akron this week too.) and not a sign of improvement by the minutemen.

Ohio rolls 39 - 13.

Virginia Tech Hokies (3-1, 1-0 ACC) @ Cincinnati Bearcats (2-0 , 1-0 BE)
Saturday, 9/29 3:30 ET ESPNU
Line: Virginia Tech -7

I'm still a little angry about VT's performance at Pitt. What I know now is VT is 1-3 ATS. I also know that Cincy handled Pitt 34-10. It was their first game of the season, but something seems off about this VT team. Their special teams are up to Hokie standards and I think Cincy has been a little undervalued thus far. For some reason they're playing this game at Fed Ex Field, which makes me think its going to be an ugly game. VT wins, 20 - 17, but doesn't cover.

Take Cincy and the points.

UCLA Bruins (3-1, 0-1 PAC 12) @ Colorado (1-3, 1-0 PAC 12)
Saturday, 9/29 3:30 ET PAC 12 Network
Line: UCLA - 19.5

Yep Colorado made it back this week, too. Man, how bad is Wash St? Yikes. First off, I told you so. Secondly, WSU can't run the football. And in the previous three games the teams that beat CU ran the ball well. Including Fresno, who just demolished them for 288 yds at 7.58 yds/carry. And guess what? UCLA can run the football. They're 14th in the nation in fact. This game is going to be more like the Fresno game than the WSU game.

UCLA 44 - 17

GOTW
Oregon State Beavers (2-0, 1-0 PAC 12) @ Arizona Wildcats (3-1, 0-1 PAC 12)
Saturday, 9/29 10:00 pm ET PAC 12 Network
Line: AZ -2.5

So my punishment continues. I can't escape the Beavers. And again, I admit I was wrong about them. What I didn't realize is how good they are against the run. They are second in the nation and are only giving up 58 yds/game. The Beavers couldn't have had a better warm up game to Arizona than UCLA. If the Wildcats thought that their 2.8 yds/carry last week was rough, they're in for a long night this week. The money is on the over right now, but I'm not entirely sure about that. Both of Or St games have gone under and when the Spread-n-Shred can't run the ball successfully, it ain't gonna light up the scoreboard. The Beavers continue to roll with nasty, nasty defense.

Beavers 20 - 13
