Because, Who Doesn't Enjoy a Good Argument?

Since my Michigan loving counterpart felt it necessary to find holes in my logic with some number crunching, I decided to fight back with some numbers of my own.

These numbers come from the Congrove Computer Rankings and have been in use since 1993.

"... created by Dave Congrove, a college football fanatic who desired to create an unbiased comparison of major college football teams. He was looking for answers, and not attempting to validate a theory. Thus, he devised a formula that contains only hard data and nothing which could be perceived as opinion."

Using these unbiased rankings, I broke down four conferences, Pac-12, B1G, SEC and the Big XII, looking at how many teams fell into the computer's ranking quadrants. The results are as follow:

Number of teams in each quadrant

Pac-12 B1G SEC Big XII
Top Quarter  3 3 7 9
Second Quarter 6 5 3 0
Third Quarter 1 4 3 0
Fourth Quarter 2 0 1 1
Total 12 12 14 10

Percentage of the league in each quadrant:

Pac-12 B1G SEC Big XII
Top Quarter 25% 25% 50% 90%
Second Quarter 50% 42% 21% 0%
Third Quarter 8% 33% 21% 0%
Fourth Quarter 17% 0% 7% 10%
Total 100% 100% 100% 100%

Or, if these numbers do not impress, please review this statistical breakdown from Drake's own source, Jeff Sagarin. I have no idea what the hell he is talking about here, but in the end the Big XII is ranked #1 and that is all that is important.

CONFERENCE CENTRAL MEAN SIMPLE AVERAGE TEAMS WIN50%

   1 BIG 12 (A) = 83.43 82.28 ( 1) 10 82.57 ( 1)
   2 SOUTHEASTERN (A) = 80.75 81.03 ( 2) 14 80.92 ( 2)
   3 PAC-12 (A) = 77.88 77.26 ( 3) 12 77.64 ( 3)
   4 BIG TEN (A) = 76.01 75.48 ( 4) 12 75.56 ( 4)
   5 ATLANTIC COAST (A) = 74.22 74.28 ( 5) 12 74.20 ( 5)
   6 BIG EAST (A) = 71.56 71.76 ( 6) 8 71.75 ( 6)
   7 I-A INDEPENDENTS (A) = 70.61 71.10 ( 7) 4 70.79 ( 7)

To summarize: as I stated in my original post, the Big XII top to bottom is the best conference in the nation. And there are the real numbers to prove it.
