Drake's Divination Week 8: Fresh Meat

Passing on some old faithfuls, brings fresh meat to the table.
When I received the obligatory "You suck because one of your picks blew up my 25 team teaser"call from my Dad this past Saturday night, he added he felt my video choices were horrendous. So, how's this father? Nothing but meat! Good ol' red blooded meat!

Video choices aside, we performed well last week.

Week 8 Divination
Looking over the slate this week, our old faithfuls didn't have such favorable match ups. So, we'll put them on the shelf this week and look at some fresh meat.

(6) LSU (6-1, 2-1 SEC) @ (18) Texas AM (5-1, 2-1 SEC)
Saturday 10/20, 12:00 ET, ESPN
Line: LSU -3.5

If you didn't stay up to watch that TX AM/LA Tech game, I'm sorry. It was entertaining. Especially after watching LSU/SCAR pummel each other with sticks and rocks like cavemen. SEC fans, I don't want to hear anymore talk about the "three yards and a cloud of dust" B1G.

Well this week we'll see those two worlds collide. LSU is in the midst of a tough-ass stretch in their schedule. They have Alabama next week and undefeated Miss St the following week. Could they potentially over-look the Aggies? I can't imagine so. The good news for the Aggies is this game is at home and Johnny Football will be the best QB LSU has faced all season. Yes, LSU touts the number two pass defense, but the Aggies had a similar matchup back in September; a 3 point loss to unbeaten Florida. They'll be ready. I think the Aggie rush defense does enough to give their potent offense the chance to pull out the victory. To be safe take the points as LSU is just 2-5 ATS. That said, I have to go with my gut and call the Aggie upset.

TAMU 27 - 21

New Mexico State (1-5, 0-2 WAC) @ Utah State (5-2, 1-0 WAC)
Saturday 10/20, 3:00 ET, Game Plan/ESPN3
Line: Utah St -30

The Battle of the Western Aggies! Unfortunately, I don't see this being much of a fight. Is 30 a big number? Yes, but Utah State is 7-0 ATS this season. They've beaten and covered against bad teams all year. And NMST is about as bad as they come. Go big on this one.

Utah State 46 - 7.

(4) Kansas State (6-0, 3-0 Big XII) @ (13) West Virginia (5-1, 2-1 Big XII)
Saturday 10/20, 7:00 pm ET, Fox
Line: WVU -2.5

This season is playing out just the way K-State wants it. Grandpa Bill can keep playing the "no one respects us" card and the K-State players will eat that up and stay motivated. They were 15.5 point underdogs to OU in Norman and shut them down. They were clearly looking past the Cyclones last week and found a way to win that thing, albeit in ugly fashion. We've all seen that the WVU defense is horrific. Yes, they have the offense and, yes, they're in Morgantown, but I think the Wildcats do exactly what Tech did; beat up and dominate the line of scrimmage and force Geno to run around. Bottom line, WVU is 2-4 ATS thus far and they just lost their shot at the MNC. K-State handles their business and the fans do that crazy rocking, cannonball thing they do.

KSU  45 - 33.

Utah (2-4, 0-3 PAC-12) @ (8) Oregon State (5-0, 3-0 PAC-12)
Saturday 10/20, 10:30 PM ET, ESPN2
Line: Oregon State -10.5

Hurry before this goes to two touchdowns. Why it didn't open up at 14, I have no idea. You have a freshman quarterback of a 2-4 team travelling to Corvallis where the Beavers have given up a total of 13 points on the year. Cody Vaz got his first start on the road and did just fine. I really don't see this one staying that close. Oregon State hasn't been given much respect and that trend continues. The Beavers make you happy this week.

Oregon State 31 - 12.

(7) South Carolina (6-1, 4-1 SEC) @ (2) Florida (6-0, 5-0 SEC)
Saturday 10/20, 3:30 pm ET, CBS
Line: Florida -3

Tough, tough stretch for the Gamecocks. The good news: this is the last tough one until they meet Clemson at the end of the year. Last week was rough on SCAR. It was obvious LSU wore them down which clearly got to Conner Shaw. He seemed shaken. Things aren't much better for them this week heading into Gainsville, unfortunately. The Gator defense has teeth this year. Not to mention they had the week to recoup after LSU (Yes, I just called Vandy the Bye-Week). They also know that the Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party next week is meaningless unless they win this game. Coach Boom will have them focused. The line is right on and these teams are 6-1 and 5-1 ATS respectively. So I think the bet is the under.

Florida 17 - 14.
