Week 14 Divination

Well it's the final week and there are championship games about. So this week, I'm going to take a look at the "lesser" championship games on the docket.

Defacto Big East Championship
Louisville (9-2, 4-2 Big East) @ Rutgers (9-2, 5-1 Big East)
Thursday 11/29, 7:30 ET, ESPN
Line: Rutgers -3

How far has the Big East fallen? They're now just pulling in teams to try and stay afloat. They should just merge with CUSA for the super mega conference and be done with it. Anyway, the winner of this games gets to go to the Orange Bowl to get curb stomped by likely Florida State. With Bridgewater's status up in the air, I can't take the Cardinals. I just can't. Rutgers has gone 7-4 ATS where Louisville has only covered four times this season. I don't think 3 points is enough.

Rutgers 24 - 13

Marathon MAC Football Championship
(21) Northern Illinois (11-1, 8-0 MAC) @ (17) Kent State (11-1, 8-0 MAC)
Friday 11/30, 7:00 pm ET, ESPN2
Line: NIU - 6.5

Friday night MACtion baby! I'm actually looking forward to this game. Kent State is one of the better stories of the year. Even more exciting is the very real chance that the winner of this game could end up in a BCS bowl as the non-AQ automatic qualifier. NIU has been lethal on offense this season. And both teams have been great against the spread. I like NIU's experience here. And I really like that the line is under a touchdown. Huskies win and wait for that BCS birth.

NIU 37 - 27

Conference USA Football Championship
Central Florida (9-3, 7-1 CUSA) @ Tulsa (9-3, 7-1 CUSA)
Saturday 12/1, Noon ET, ESPN2
Line: Tulsa -2

Oh Conference USA, what would we ever do without you? I'm really not crazy about this line. I liked it better earlier in the week when it was a pick. Neither team has been solid ATS with UCF going 6-6 and Tulsa going 7-5. But with lines under 4, Tulsa has been better ATS than UCF. In the previous matchup Tulsa won by 2. Hmmm. I'm going to say that we get something similar, but Tulsa pushes the margin a bit farther.

Tulsa 27 - 21

Louisiana Lafayette (7-4, 7-1 Sun Belt) @ Florida Atlantic (3-8, 2-5 Sun Belt)
Saturday 12/1, 3:00 pm ET, available in person
Line: LAL -9

No conference title up for grabs here, this is just an early Christmas gift. Bottom line is nine point isn't enough here. FAU has been a cover machine on the year, but not this time.

La-Laf 42 - 27

B1G Championship
(12) Nebraska (10-2, 7-1 B1G) @ Wisconsin (7-5, 4-4 B1G)
Saturday 12/1, 8:17 pm ET, Fox
Line: Nebraska -3

How fitting that a 4-4 B1G team be playing for the conference championship this year. What a horrible, horrible year this was in Big Ten country. If you read B1G post earlier today, I think he had it right when he said this game has a different feel to it. Wisconsin's offense has been not so good. They've struggled against good defenses because they are very one-dimensional. I'm not sure it'll be the blow out that B1G predicted, but the I think the Huskers cover the 3 points.

Nebraska 28 - 23
