PS Bowl-A-Thon 2012: R + L Carriers New Orleans Bowl

You know the Ragin Cajun Housewives are huge Louisiana-Lafayette fans.

The When/Where:
Saturday, December 22nd at Noon EST. Superdome, New Orleans, LA. ESPN.

The Who:
East Carolina Pirates (8-4, 7-1 CUSA) vs. Louisiana-Lafayette (8-4, 6-2 Sun Belt)

The Why:
This is where the CUSA and Sun Belt come to settle their differences.  Or, whatever. Louisiana-Lafayette won the 3 way tie for second place in the Sun Belt to make its third consecutive appearance.

Meanwhile, East Carolina lost out to UCF on the going to the CUSA Championship game. Quick, name where that game is played? Tulsa. If you know that you either follow Tulsa football or need professional help. The Pirates lost to both North and South Carolina, along with UCF and, gulp, Navy.

What Smartypants Accounting Guy Would Tell You:
Both teams average over 30 ppg and 400 yards of offense. They both throw the ball, averaging over 250 yards per game.

Niether team is very good at defending the pass. That’s going to be a problem in this game.

Pool Prognosticators Pattern:
I love the Ragin’ Cajun nickname. I used to play as Louisiana-Lafayette on the PS2 NCAA Football game…I admit it. I’d win the Sun Belt, and then I’d get hired by an SEC team. Like Gus Malzahn, only he did it in real life.

East Carolina, meh. First of all, it’s not real. There is no East Carolina. There is a North and a South, but they made up the East part. Now, granted, the fictional town of Mayberry was in East Carolina, but I don't recall Andy or Opie ever wearing a Pirate shirt.

The Vegas Edge:
ULL is favored by 6 with a 64-point over/under.
The Sweatpants Verdict:
High scoring, lots of passing, no defense; this is the way mid-tier bowl games should be played. Or, a Big 12 game. ULL has been there, they are close to New Orleans. Once a Ragin’ Cajun, always a Ragin’ Cajun.

ULL 38 ECU 36.
