PS Bowl-A-Thon 2012

Bowl season is officially upon us. And here at Productive Sweatpants that means one thing: The PS Bowl-A-Thon!

If you've stopped in around the holidays over the past three years you know what the Bowl-A-Thon is all about. We take a look at every single bowl game in an effort to get you prepared to watch the games and impress your friends and family with your superior college football knowledge.

Typically I'd link to the original Bowl-A-Thon post that shows the structure of our preview and defines each category. But when I went to do that again this year, I realized I did that back in 2009. As a matter of fact, it was one of the first things that was done at the blog. It's hard to believe this is my fourth Bowl-A-Thon and I'm really haven't gotten any better at this. Anyway, I thought it was time to slap some lipstick on that pig. So behold, I give you the updated definition of each category in the PS Bowl-A-Thon previews.

The When/Where:
This will give you the vitals of the game. Where's it is. When it's on. Easy stuff. Still the same, pretty straight forward.

The Who:
Again more first date type stuff. Gotta know the teams, right? Mascots, records, things of that nature.

The Why:
How did the two teams end up in the bowl. Conference ties. Record. Etc. This section has morphed into a little bit about the bowl itself, but still checking off on how the teams arrived.

What Smartypants Accounting Guy Would Tell You:
Alright, here is where we'll take a little deeper look at each team and see if we can't find a nugget or two to determine who in the hell will win the game. This is all about stats man.

Pool Prognosticators Pattern:
This is where we will review the tangential keys to the game. Here you'll find that we use elements of the contest that have nothing to do with football to make a pick. We've used this in the past to provide you with gems like: "Blue is my favorite color and that is what Boise State will beat Oklahoma." Don't think people don't use this logic to pick winners? Cause it happens.

The Vegas Edge:
In 2010 I moved to Vegas and started to explore sports betting. If you've been a loyal sweatpants fanatic you know that we've dove deeper and deeper into the gambling side by providing lines and our takes on them. So this section will satisfy your gambling jones.

The Sweatpants Verdict:
Productive Sweatpants will give you its pick for the victor of the contest. Pretty straight forward

So there you have it. Check the blog before each of the bowl games so you can figure out who you want to root for. B1G and I will be working this thing in tandem, while the rest of the staff heads out for an early vacation.

Oh and don't forget to participate in the Productive Sweatpants Bowl Challenge. There is still plenty of time to get signed up and pick your winners!
