Quick Buck Thursday

Unit Roll: 18

So it wasn’t the greatest start to the year. But, remember, it’s a marathon not a sprint. Eventhough we started the marathon by getting run over by the pack of speedy Kenyans (I don’t have a really good marathon analogy for losing. I get tired driving 26 miles).

This week we're going to turn to Mel Gibson for success and go all Road Warrior with our picks. So let’s shake off the dust from last week, steal all the gas and destroy the Humungus that is week 2:

Duke -5 @ Memphis – 1 Unit
This line has moving between 4 and 6 all week. You can still get it at -4 at some books. And if you can, grab it. I like what the Devils are doing and I don’t think Memphis is going to be able to stop their offense.

Arizona -11 @ UNLV – 2 Units
UNLV is better at home than on the road, yes. But their defense is suspect for sure. Rich Rod’s offense is good. And with Casteel in his second year with his guys, UNLV just isn’t going to be able to keep up.

Bonus: Bet the over 61 to hedge here. If the UNLV offense does get going, there will be a ton of points in this one.

Oklahoma St -26.5 @ Texas-San Antonio – 2 Units
Yes UTSA beat a revived New Mexico squad last week. This NM team is not last year’s team. They are worse. I have Okie State winning this game by almost twice this spread. After facing an attacking Cowbell U defense last week, the Cowboy offense will find things a little more easygoing this week.

New Mexico @ UTEP -6.5 – 1 Unit
Speaking of the Lobos. Back to back road games to open the season. That’s pretty rough. The line has grown from it’s opening -3, but we are still a field goal in the black here.

Miami (OH) +17 @ Kentucky – 1 Unit
Maybe last week woke them up , but with #8 Louisville, #12 Florida, #6 SCAR and #1 Bama looming as the next four games, I have a hard time believing that isn't in the Wildcats' mind. Which is why the 17 points is too tempting to pass up. I think Kentucky wins, but the Redhawks keep it close.

Super Double Extra Bonus

Buffalo @ Baylor over 67
I don’t think Ohio State’s defense is that bad, so Buffalo can play a little. Not to mention Baylor may put up 67 on their own.
