Lazy Man's Michigan Preview: Northwestern

As the SEC Guy pointed out yesterday, let the therapy commence

Michigan Wolverines (6-3, 2-3 B1G) @ Northwestern Wildcats (4-5, 0-5 B1G)
Saturday 11/15, 3:30 ET, Ryan Field, BTN

Michigan hits the road where they've dominated teams been super successful at times struggled against good teams sucked. Nonetheless I'm going to look at the keys to the game.

SIGH! Well, I'm not really sure what to say here. Everyone and their brother is on Borges and playcalling. But I'm not sure I'm there. What does worry me is that this offense needs line checks and it seems like they haven't given Gardner any. So that leaves them doomed to run every called play no matter what. Speaking of Gardner, I really want him to throw two picks this game. At least that means he's throwing the ball somewhat in rhythm. In order to do that the line needs to get it's calls right. No one on that line is on the same page. All in all, I don't know what to expect. I'm a little excited actually, because I have no idea what to expect (Yes, I think I've reach a weird level of denial or acceptance, ah I'm confused).

Michigan is going to need great linebacker play. Colter is going to run. Throw-God Trevor Simeon is going to pass. Michigan has seen this spread more times than not. They must make stops because they're not going to win a shoot out. The Will and SDE have to know their contain responsibilities to slow down the run game. And please get Wilson and Gordon back in the secondary.

Special Teams
Hope that Wile keeps up his stellar kicking. The defense is going to need him. Gibbons, get your head on straight.

I should have previewed the Michigan @ Iowa State game instead.

Is 'I have no idea" a prediction? It is right? Please? Dammit! I can't see Michigan fixing it's offense issues in a week. I do think that maybe a handful of plays get executed and we see either a big play or two or two to three "drives". And they're going to have to because I don't see the defense forcing any turnovers in this game. If Northwestern wasn't so banged up, I would pick them in a second. But they are and I want to believe Michigan won't be so bad three weeks in a row.

Michigan 19 - 17

Let the therapy begin!

Big House Blog suggests you go shopping instead of watching.

Maize N Brew's Zach Travis is going to be looking to baby steps.

Touch The Banner thinks Michigan will look like it has a real offense.

Brian at MGoBlog I think has lost all logical thought about football.
