PS Bowl-A-Thon 2013: Beef O' Brady's Bowl

Oh there is a whole Youtube channel of these wonderful commercials. Hey Beef O' Brady's Marketing department, call me.

The When/Where:
Beef O' Brady's Bowl, Monday December 23rd, 2:00 pm EST. Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, FL. ESPN

The Who:
Ohio Bobcats (7-5, 4-4 MAC) @ East Carolina Pirates (9-3, 6-2 CUSA)

The Why:
Ah the Bowl that eats like a meal. Or something. Good times. IDK.

The Beef O' Brady's Bowl is suppose to feature the fourth place CUSA team and the seventh place American team. But since we all know the American sucks giant donkey balls (they ended up with four bowl eligible teams) we get a MAC substitute. Which also filled in last year.

What Smartypants Accounting Guy Would Tell You:
Ohio is a pretty average to bad offensive team. They will spread you out and have a bit more success throwing the ball. Which makes sense with their veteran QB, Tyler Tettleton. It's the same story on Defense. They rank towards the bottom of the nation in efficiency across the board. They had some early success against conference leaders Marshall and North Texas, but then basically lost to any team with a pulse.

ECU on the other hand is a pretty decent team. They're not going to blow your socks off, but they are 10th in scoring and passing offense behind JR QB Shane Carden. On the defensive side of the ball they are decent to average. They are sitting in the 30's in the efficiency rankings for both offense and defense. Aside from the blowout loss to Marshall to finish the season they're other two losses were by a combined 8 points (VT and Tulane).

Pool Prognosticators Pattern:
East Carolina isn't even a state. Wait, it isn't right? Anyway Pirates are just cross-dressing sailors and bobcats are like super cute over-sized cats. I like cats.

The Vegas Edge:
ECU -13.5 O/U 62.5
The number can be found at -13 on up to -14. But ECU is clearly the heavy favorite. Both these teams went 6-6 ATS for the year. And ECU wasn't a great favorite going just 4-5 ATS. On the other hand Ohio was a terrible dog with a 1-3 ATS record. They're losing when they are suppose to. As for the total, ECU went 8-4 and Ohio went 4-8. You're guess is as good as mine.

The Sweatpants Verdict:
I don't think there is any doubt that ECU is going to win this game. My biggest concern is if they cover. I think we'll see some decent QB play in this game with both the QB's logging a lot of minutes throughout their careers. I also think that Ohio is going to have a hard time stopping ECU. They're just not that good. That said, Solich always finds a way to screw me. Always. I think the over is the play and depending on what line you get, I think -14 gets you the push.

ECU 42 - 28
