Quick Buck Thursday: The Come Back

I admit it.

I flat out quit on you last year.

I unequivocally said "F*#$ this, I'm out!".

Did it leave you in a lurch? Maybe.
Did you survive without me? Probably.
Did you win without me? Most likely.

Regardless, I'm back for another season providing the most average picks on the interweb.

Look I'm in advertising. If I was good at this, I'd be a professional gambler and actually charge for this advice.

If you've been here a time or two you know that we start with a bank roll and assign units to each wager keeping a running total throughout the season. Typically, I pick five games I like and throw in a couple bonus picks.

Got it?
Good.

Enough chit chat, let's get down to business.

Starting bank roll: 100 units (I did some serious work during hockey and baseball season. But that's for a different day)

Thursday
Oklahoma St @ Central Michigan +24.5 - 5 units
Nothing against the Big XII, but Ok St has lots of questions. CMU, on the other hand, can really sling the ball around. They return their QB who led a top 20 offense in yd/att last season. I don't think they'll win, but they should have little problem with the cover.

Western Kentucky -2.5 @ Vandy - 5 units
It's Thursday night and Thursday night belongs to the non-power 5 schools. WKY returns almost all their defense, their QB and 7 others from last year's potent offense. Experience is a key to victory early in the season.

Saturday
Arizona St +140 @ Texas A&M - 5 units
Don't expect to see money line bets here frequently, but Arizona State has a chance to be really good this season. They return almost all components of a pretty damn fine defense, plus have experience returning on the other side of the ball. Also; SEC West hype can suck it.

Bowling Green @ Tennessee -20.5 - 5 units
Is this the year Butch? I think it is. Tennessee is one SEC team that is worth the attention. They're experienced and good defensively and I expect to see strides on offense as well.

Mississippi St -20.5 @ So. Miss - 5 units
The Bulldogs feature an explosive offense with a Heisman candidate at the helm. I'll take it early in the year.

The Baylor Bears Bonus Over of the Week
Michigan State @ Western Michigan - Over 58.5
Sparty's dirty little secret last year was a very productive offense. They hit the over quite a bit and on the other side the Broncos were top three in yds/att passing. Don't buy the ESPN line on MSU's D.

The Bob Drake "I need another team for my 21-team teaser" Double Bonus
Michigan @ Utah- under 46
It's baaaaack!

Talked to the old man yesterday, and while I don't typically include my Wolverines in this space, I think this one is different. Two really good defenses, one questionable offense. I see field goals in our future, kids.
